There was never a plan to build a studio in London. In fact, it was quite the opposite.
It started as us looking for a bigger studio for our own photography business, because we regularly found ourselves having to widen our search or travel into London, often facing higher hire costs, complicated logistics, parking and the general hassle that comes with unloading equipment from the car into the studio. So, we started looking for our own bigger studio.
Then we found the barn… and it was huge! So huge in fact, it was too big for us, and too expensive. We fell in love with the space, the high ceilings, the old beams, and the potential this space could be.

We started to wonder, if we were finding it frustrating finding spaces in Hertfordshire, how many other photographers, brands, agencies and creative teams were too?
So, we decided to create the space we'd always wanted to use ourselves but for everyone else too: A professional studio that was accessible, flexible and easy to use, while still giving clients the quality and facilities they would expect from a London studio.
We’re based in Hertfordshire, and we knew there was a huge amount of creative talent around us: Photographers. Filmmakers. Designers. Agencies. Brands. Small businesses. Creators.
Today, Hertford Studios is a 3,000 sq ft creative space with an infinity cove, lifestyle areas, green room, makeup facilities, kitchen, parking and ground-floor access.
The infinity Cove all finished
But for us, the most important thing is still the same as it was when we started. Making professional production easier.
Why Hertfordshire? Because we don't believe you need a London postcode to create London-quality work. Hertfordshire has an incredible creative community, and we're proud to be part of it.
We're close enough to London to be convenient for London-based clients, but far enough away to offer a different kind of experience.
Less rushing.
Less hassle.
More space.
And, hopefully, a place where people actually enjoy spending the day.
That was the idea behind Hertford Studios.
And two years on, it's still the reason we're here.
A professional creative studio outside London, built for the people who use it.
